چکیده

Materials and methods: The study treatments (vaccinated for PCV2 or nonvaccinated control and barrow or gilt) were arranged as a 2 × 2 factorial. Pigs (PIC L337 × 1050) were randomly assigned to Vaccinated or Control treatments within gender. In Experiment One, pigs were vaccinated at 9 and 11 weeks of age, and in Experiment Two, pigs were vaccinated at 5 and 7 weeks of age. Performance data were then collected during the finisher on-test period beginning when pigs were 11 weeks of age. Pig weights and feed intake were recorded on a pen basis.

Ear necrosis syndrome in weaning pigs associated with PCV2 infection: A case report

Porcine necrotic ear syndrome (PNES) in pigs has been reported as an increasing health problem in many countries with intensive pig farming. The etiology of this disease is complex and the presumed triggering factors can be divided into infectious and non-infectious agents. The present report describes a case of Porcine Circovirus type 2 (PCV2), infection associated with lesions of PNES at the ...

One dose of a porcine circovirus 2 subunit vaccine induces humoral and cell-mediated immunity and protects against porcine circovirus-associated disease under field conditions.

This study investigated the efficacy of a one-dose porcine circovirus 2 (PCV2) subunit vaccine based on the PCV2 Cap protein expressed in a baculovirus system on two different farms at which a history of porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVD) was present. Morbidity, mortality, average daily weight gain, carcass weight, PCV2 load in serum and vaccine immunogenicity were assessed. Serology ...

Factors associated with the growing-finishing performances of swine herds: an exploratory study on serological and herd level indicators

Background Growing and finishing performances of pigs strongly influence farm efficiency and profitability. The performances of the pigs rely on the herd health status and also on several non-infectious factors. Many recommendations for the improvement of the technical performances of a herd are based on the results of studies assessing the effect of one or a limited number of infections or env...

Comparison of four commercial one-dose porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccines administered to pigs challenged with PCV2 and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus at 17 weeks postvaccination to control porcine respiratory disease complex under Korean field conditions.

Under Korean field conditions, coinfection with porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is most commonly observed in porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC). Despite the wide use of PCV2 vaccination, PRDC remains a serious respiratory problem. Thus, the objective of this study was to determine and compare the efficacy of 4 one-dose PCV...

Effects of porcine circovirus type 2 vaccine and increasing standardized ileal digestible lysine:metabolizable energy ratio on growth performance and carcass composition of growing and finishing pigs.

Four experiments were conducted to examine the effect of porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) vaccination on the response of growing and finishing pigs (PIC 337 × 1050) to increasing dietary Lys. Experiments 1 and 2 evaluated 38- to 65-kg gilts and barrows, respectively, and Exp. 3 and 4 evaluated 100- to 120-kg gilts and barrows, respectively. Gilts and barrows were housed separately in different ...
